Miami Movers

An unseasonably “cool” day in Miami was the perfect weather for students, friends, and community members to gather for the opening of the latest Miami-Dade Soccer Initiative mini-pitch at Bright Park in Hialeah.

This new mini-pitch, which is just steps away from students at Flamingo Elementary School, marks the latest development in the initiative’s goal to bring 50 mini-pitches to Miami-Dade County through generous contributions from Griffin Catalyst. The pitch will also be a new site for the Just Ball League, which will be run by the City of Hialeah thanks to continued investment from The Children’s Trust.

“Teamwork here can translate to the corporate room tomorrow,” said City of Hialeah Mayor Esteban Bovo, Jr. “I was a benefactor of that growing up and I want to make sure it’s passed along to the next generations.”

At the event, Just Ball League Playmakers facilitated soccer games for students in between visits to the shaved ice tent. We’re excited to keep moving in Miami!
