Mini-Pitch, Big Possibilities in Miami-Dade

Stakeholders form the Miami-Dade Soccer Initiative at the Oak Grove Elementary mini-pitch opening.

The Miami World Cup 2026™ Host Committee, The Children’s Trust, Griffin Catalyst, and Miami-Dade County Public Schools joined us for the unveiling of a brand new mini-pitch at Oak Grove Elementary.

The day was filled with sunshine, soccer, and community as families and local leaders gathered to celebrate the grand opening. This mini-pitch marks a milestone for the Miami-Dade community as it’s the first of 25 new safe places to play planned for Miami-Dade County Public Schools as part of the Miami-Dade Soccer Initiative.

Launched in 2023, the initiative channels the love of the beautiful game into schools and communities across Miami-Dade County. This initiative will expand access to safe places to play and soccer programming for kids in under-resourced communities, because every child deserves a place to play and a chance to thrive through soccer.

“These mini-pitches represent far more than new places to play. They represent opportunity,” said Ed Foster-Simeon, President & CEO of the U.S. Soccer Foundation. “For many youth in Miami-Dade, safe places to be active and engaged are too often out of reach. By bringing high-quality play spaces and proven programming directly into schools and communities, we are helping ensure every child has the chance to experience the joy, connection, and possibility that soccer can bring.”

We’re excited to continue the work of the Miami-Dade Soccer Initiative and see how the Oak Grove Elementary mini-pitch will support and expand access to soccer, giving kids a safe place to play, learn, and grow.
