Houston Physical Educators to Bring Soccer to 29,000 Students

Coming this spring to PE classes across Houston: Soccer for Success!

Last week, 67 physical educators from across 72 schools in the  Independent School District spent part of their professional development day learning the Soccer for Success School Curriculum and honing their soccer skills on the pitch. This spring, more than 29,000 students will have a new soccer unit as part of their physical education class.

The half-day training prepared educators to successfully implement the curriculum and to achieve positive outcomes for their students through both classroom and soccer sessions. Educators left with increased soccer expertise to bring back to their students and 1,200 soccer balls were distributed to schools represented at the training.

Hear from the physical educators about their training experience.

The Soccer for Success School Curriculum provides a turnkey way for educators to teach the fundamentals of soccer while integrating activities that empower students to establish life-long healthy habits and improve their physical and health literacy.
