A New Place to Play with MetLife Foundation and Roxborough YMCA

Adults cheer in front of new mini-pitch opened through MetLife & US Soccer Foundation partnership

We kicked off our partnership with MetLife Foundation with the opening of a brand new mini-pitch at the Roxborough YMCA. This mini-pitch will give kids and families a place to stay active and improve their physical and mental well-being. As a part of this partnership, five additional mini-pitches will open in communities across the country.

MetLife volunteers joined us at the event, on and off the pitch. Cheering on players, facilitating activities, and connecting families to wellness resources at stations around the event. The celebration featured speakers from the U.S. Soccer Foundation, MetLife Foundation, and the Roxborough YMCA, all sharing how much this new space will mean for the neighborhood.

Alongside all the excitement around the first kick and free play, families enjoyed activities like balloon animals, face painting, and interactive health and wellness stations.

This mini-pitch marks the beginning of our $1.7 million partnership with MetLife Foundation. Together, we will open five more mini-pitches and bring soccer programming, mentorship, and safe places to play to more than 220,000 young people and their families.

We’re excited to see how the kids of Roxborough will grow through soccer programming on their new mini-pitch—and we can’t wait to see what’s ahead as this partnership continues to expand access to the beautiful game and all its benefits.
