What started as a single mini-pitch has grown into a nationwide movement transforming how communities play, connect, and thrive.

Now, there are more than 800 mini-pitches across the country—and we are excited to share that a new study by NC State University finds that 6.5 million children now live within a half mile—roughly a 10-minute walk—of a mini-pitch.

The study also found that mini-pitches increase community engagement and fuel the growth of the sport.

  • Community Use: On average, each mini-pitch hosts nine hours of programming and 43 hours of open play per week.
  • Affordability: 87% of programming is offered for free or at a reduced rate, with 80% of all programming completely free.
  • Soccer Growth: 69% of surveyed users believe the mini-pitch has increased access to soccer in their community.

We make a concerted effort to ensure that high-quality programs are offered at mini-pitch sites, including our evidence-based programs Soccer for Success and Just Ball.

These aren’t just soccer spaces. They’re places to move, vibe, and connect.

Together, we’re proving that a small pitch really can make a big difference.
