Mr. Welch currently serves as the Treasurer of the U.S. Soccer Foundation. He has worked in the financial services industry for almost 30 years, originally for Dillon Read in investment banking, and then for TA. Associates, Boston Ventures, and Advent International in private equity and venture capital. Subsequently, he worked for Eagle Capital Management in investment management from late 1991-1996 and helped the firm grow from $100M in AUM to close to $1B. In 1996, Leighton founded Welch Capital Partners, LLC based in New York City.
Mr. Welch is a former Board of Governors member of the Lawrence Hospital and served as Chairman of the Lawrence Hospital Investment Committee for three years. He is also a member of the U.S. Soccer Foundation New York Leadership Council. He is a member of the Major Gifts Committee for his Harvard class of 1983 and previous member of the Board of the Community Fund of Bronxville, Eastchester & Tuckahoe. In addition, he has been a Head Coach for The Eastchester Youth Soccer League including Travel Teams (12 years).
He and his wife, Beatrice, have lived in Bronxville, NY for 25 years and have 3 boys. Leighton graduated with an AB degree in Economics from Harvard University where he played for the Varsity Soccer team from 1980-1983 and earned an MBA from Harvard 6 years later.
