Celebrating Unity and Community at NWSL Championship Weekend

Youth athletes, partners, and community members pose on new mini-pitch

As part of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Championship weekend, we teamed up with partners to host a Unified Clinic on the mini-pitch made possible by Bay FC at Crocker Amazon Playground.

We kicked off the event with speakers from San Francisco Recreation and Parks, Sixth Street, Special Olympics Northern California, and the U.S. Soccer Foundation, who highlighted the importance of this moment—celebrating unity, the power of the women’s game, and the partners who make access possible.

Youth athletes from Special Olympics Northern California and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula joined us on the pitch for the ceremonial first kick and friendly games and soccer activities. NWSL athletes made the moment extra special, bringing the energy and excitement as coaches for the day.

As the games continued, community members, athletes, parents, and partners enjoyed food, music, and fun giveaways. A day full of community and connection, this event reminded us why the work we do matters. Creating safe, inclusive spaces for kids to play gives them room to try new things, meet new friends, and feel like they truly belong.

We’re grateful to all the partners who made this possible and to everyone who showed up to create an afternoon full of encouragement and community. This is the kind of impact that goes far beyond a single event — it stays with kids long after the day is over.
