Associate I, Programs (East)

Hugh Roberts joined the U.S. Soccer Foundation in October 2025 as Associate I, Programs (East). In this role, he supports the Foundation’s efforts to expand and sustain its sports-based youth development programs across the East region, focusing on building strong community partnerships and helping ensure high-quality program implementation.

Hugh brings over a decade of experience as a professional soccer player, community leader, and storyteller. Over his 11-year professional career, he became the all-time minutes leader in USL Championship history, was a board member of the players union of the USL for three years and co-founded the United Black Players of the USL, an organization dedicated to supporting and empowering minority athletes.

Beyond the field, Hugh founded BackYardFooty, a storytelling platform that highlights the journeys of professional athletes, and The Footy’s Got You Foundation, a nonprofit that provides food and resources to underserved communities. His work bridges sports, media, and social impact, reflecting his deep belief in soccer as a tool for unity and opportunity.

He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Business Analytics from Bellevue University and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Business Management from George Mason University.
