Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Soccer Foundation, the Major Charitable Arm of Soccer in the United States, announced on June 28, 2012 that it has awarded Planning Grants, totaling $40,000 in credit towards planning services from CHA Sports, to five non-profit organizations serving youth in urban, underserved areas. Since being established in 1994, the U.S. Soccer Foundation has awarded more than $57 million to non-profit organizations in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Through its grants program, the Foundation strives to continue its mission of enhancing and growing the sport of soccer as well as improving the well-being of children in underserved areas. Planning Grants are awarded to help organizations develop a full-scale concept plan for executing a field-building project that will serve youth in their respective communities.
“The U.S. Soccer Foundation is delighted to assist organizations during the planning process of a field-building project,” said Ed Foster-Simeon, President & CEO of the U.S. Soccer Foundation. “Planning Grants bring organizations one step closer to providing children with the opportunity to play soccer in a safe environment and on a quality field – an opportunity we believe all children should have.”
In addition to providing Planning Grants to support field-building initiatives, the U.S. Soccer Foundation also awards Synthetic Field Building Grants as well as Field Enhancement Grants and Program Grants.
Support for the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Annual Grants program is provided by the Foundation’s Corporate Partners’ Council, a cohort of industry leaders including CHA Sports Eurosport, FieldTurf, Hunter Industries, Musco Sports Lighting, PEVO Sports and Sport Court.
