Washington, D.C., December 7, 2012 – FOX Soccer will partner with the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Creating Chances fundraising campaign in an effort to provide children in underserved urban communities with opportunities to play soccer in a safe environment. Creating Chances supports the replication and expansion of Soccer for Success, the U.S Soccer Foundation’s after-school soccer based program that provides children in under-resourced communities with physical activity, nutrition education and mentorship at no cost to their families.
Through the month of December, FOX Soccer, the Foundation’s Official Sponsor for Sports Television Media, will deliver the campaign’s message to its supporters through its various marketing and communications platforms. In addition, the network will support the initiative during its live studio shows, including Matchday; Goals On Sunday; UEFA Champions League Pregame; and FOX Soccer News. The shows feature FOX Soccer lead studio host Rob Stone, alongside former U.S. Men’s National Team players Eric Wynalda and Brian McBride, as well as former England international Warren Barton.
“We are thrilled to have FOX Soccer join the Creating Chances campaign and dedicate their resources to using soccer for social change,” said Krista Washington, marketing and communications coordinator for the U.S. Soccer Foundation. “Through our Soccer for Success program, we use soccer to get children physically active and teach nutrition education in an engaging environment. Given the obesity epidemic, it is imperative for us to positively impact the well-being of today’s youth in a dynamic way – what better way than to use the beautiful game!”
“FOX Soccer is very excited to be a part of such a great cause here in the U.S.,” said David Nathanson, Executive Vice President and General Manager, FOX Soccer. “By supporting the Creating Changes program, we are helping many under-resourced children receive great benefits all through our shared fandom for soccer.”
Creating Chances will culminate in January 2013. For more information about Creating Chances, please visit www.creatingchances.org.
