Mr. Simmelkjaer brings over 10 years of industry expertise to a group of professionals that includes former U.S. National Team players, Major League Soccer (MLS) executives, and business leaders from around the country.

    U.S. Soccer Foundation and POLITICO Team Up for First Annual Capital Soccer Classic

    Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Soccer Foundation, the major charitable arm of soccer in the United States, and POLITICO, the country’s dominant political news source, announced today their partnership for the inaugural Capital Soccer Classic to be held in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, April 24, 2013. The premier soccer event, presented by Johnson & Johnson, will include a youth clinic as well as a series of games featuring members of Congress, including the bipartisan Congressional Soccer Caucus; other government officials; media celebrities; and former U.S. Soccer players, including John Harkes, Cobi Jones, Eddie Pope, Claudio Reyna and Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak.

    More than 16,000 Children Across 21 States and the District of Columbia Benefit from U.S. Soccer Foundation Grant Funding

    Washington, D.C., January 28, 2013 – The U.S. Soccer Foundation, the major charitable arm of soccer in the United States, announced that it has awarded 48 grants totaling more than $2.4 million to non-profit organizations serving youth in underserved areas across 21 states and the District of Columbia. The Foundation strives to assist and grow the sport of soccer, as well as improve the well-being of children in under-resourced communities, by awarding grants to support all aspects of the game. Specifically, non-profit organizations that provide children with the opportunity to play soccer and live a healthy lifestyle are awarded grants to support their programming and field-building initiatives.

    U.S. Soccer Foundation Announces New Players' Advisory Council Members

    Washington, D.C., December 12, 2012 - The U.S. Soccer Foundation, the major charitable arm of soccer in the United States, today announced two additions to its Players’ Advisory Council (PAC). Kenny Cooper of the New York Red Bulls and Todd Dunivant of the L.A. Galaxy will join the PAC, which includes high profile members, such as Landon Donovan, Angela Hucles, Devon McTavish, Ben Olsen, Logan Pause and Cat Whitehill.

    FOX Soccer Joins the U.S. Soccer Foundation's Creating Chances Campaign to Support Soccer for Social Change during Holiday Season

    Washington, D.C., December 7, 2012 – FOX Soccer will partner with the U.S. Soccer Foundation's Creating Chances fundraising campaign in an effort to provide children in underserved urban communities with opportunities to play soccer in a safe environment. Creating Chances supports the replication and expansion of Soccer for Success, the U.S Soccer Foundation’s after-school soccer based program that provides children in under-resourced communities with physical activity, nutrition education and mentorship at no cost to their families.

    U.S. Soccer Foundation Provides Free Soccer and Nutrition Lessons to Children in Underserved Urban Communities Nationwide

    The U.S. Soccer Foundation, the major charitable arm of soccer in the United States, has launched the fall season of its soccer-based afterschool program, Soccer for Success. Soccer for Success is the Foundation's nationally-recognized program that provides K-8 children in underserved urban communities with structured physical activity, nutrition education and mentorship at no cost to their families. Children in the program exercise for 90 minutes a day, at least three times per week, for 24 weeks in the academic year.

    Beyond Soccer of Lawrence, Mass. Wins U.S. Soccer Foundation Field of Dreams Award

    The U.S. Soccer Foundation today announced that Beyond Soccer of Lawrence, Mass., has been named the winner of the Field of Dreams campaign. The campaign, which ran for 30 days during July, focused on social media as a means to identify soccer fields and green spaces across the U.S. that could benefit from a Foundation Planning Grant. Lawrence, along with 54 other cities, competed for the chance to win $8,000 in credit towards planning services provided by CHA Sports, which could be used to develop a full-scale concept plan for executing a field-building project. CHA Sports is the official supplier for soccer facility design services nationwide and a partner of the U.S. Soccer Foundation.
