DOWNTOWN UNITED SOCCER CLUB, U.S. SOCCER FOUNDATION, AND NYC DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION COLLABORATE TO ENGAGE LOCAL YOUTH IN SOCCER PROGRAMMING

New York, NY – Downtown United Soccer Club, the U.S. Soccer Foundation, and the New York City Department of Education today announced a partnership to expand Soccer for Success through the city’s CHAMPS before and afterschool program. Through the partnership, as many as 2,000 students will be engaged in Soccer for Success, the Foundation’s afterschool program offered free to participants and proven to establish healthy habits and deliver positive heath and youth development outcomes.

NEW SOCCER MINI-PITCH UNVEILED AT LUIS MUNOZ MARIN SCHOOL TO PROVIDE RECREATION AND LIFE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT FOR NEWARK YOUTH

NEWARK, N.J.–An innovative new soccer mini-pitch system was unveiled at Newark’s Luis Muñoz Marin School on Thursday, marking the fourth mini-pitch opened this year in Newark. The opening is part of a five-year partnership with the New York Red Bulls, Newark Public Schools, U.S. Soccer Foundation and Wells Fargo to increase access to safe places to play across the city by creating 20 new soccer mini-pitches. As part of this initiative, more than 2,500 Newark youth will be engaged in Soccer for Success, the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s after-school soccer program that delivers positive health and youth development outcomes. Houston, TX (May 25, 2018) – The U.S. Soccer Foundation, Target, and Houston Parks & Recreation Department unveiled two new soccer play spaces at Eastwood Park in Houston. U.S. SOCCER FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANTS TO ORGANIZATIONS WORKING TO COMBAT DECLINE IN TEEN SPORT PARTICIPATION AND EXPAND ACCESS TO SAFE PLAYING SPACES

The U.S. Soccer Foundation today announced it has awarded grants to four organizations that are working to address the alarming drop-off rate in teenage participation in sports. The grants will enable organizations to engage nearly 6,000 teenagers in current and new soccer programs. The U.S. Soccer Foundation also awarded grants to 10 organizations to build and enhance safe playing spaces. The field-building grants will allow access to safe playing spaces for 70,323 youth and adults.
