IN THE KNOW: OCTOBER 2015
Check out news and updates from the U.S. Soccer Foundation!
October All-Star
Our October All-Star is Natasha! Natasha is a Soccer for Success participant who has learned valuable life lessons through soccer, and thus has grown as both a player and a person. “I used to be short-tempered, but now instead I listen to everyone’s point of view and treat others the way I want to be treated. I learned that at soccer,” she says. Not only has Natasha’s attitude improved, but she has become a leader on the field. Check out our blog post to read more about Natasha and be inspired by her story
New Safe Places to Play
We’ve been busy creating new play spaces for communities across the country! With the help of a few partners, we’ve enhanced spaces into safe play areas for kids in underserved communities.
Our Safe Places to Play projects are supported by adidas, APT, CHA Sports, Hellas Construction, Hunter Industries, KaBOOM!, Kwik Goal, Let’s Play, MLS WORKS, Musco Sports Lighting, Soccer.com, Southern New Hampshire University, and Sport Court.

Now Accepting Presentation Proposals
The Urban Soccer Symposium turns 10 in March, and we’d love for you to help us celebrate by joining us at the Symposium! If you’re an innovator or expert in the fields of health and wellness, organizational development, soccer development, or youth development, then please consider submitting a proposal to present at the Symposium. Being a presenter will provide you with the opportunity to network and showcase your work with hundreds of sports-based youth development professionals. Please follow this link to learn more or to submit your proposal before 11:59 PM EST on November 30th!
If you’re planning on helping us celebrate, either as a presenter or an attendee, follow this link to book your hotel stay at a special rate before it’s too late!

We Support the 2016 National Mentoring Summit
The U.S. Soccer Foundation is a proud Supporting Partner of MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership’s 2016 National Mentoring Summit, exploring the theme of Connection | Growth | Opportunity. The event offers 65 workshops and compelling plenary sessions, bringing together practitioners, researchers, corporate partners, government and civic leaders, national youth-serving organizations and MENTOR’s network of affiliate Mentoring Partnerships to explore and advance mentoring’s positive impact. We encourage you to learn more about the event and additional engagement opportunities that are part of the Summit, such as the Capitol Hill advocacy day and Corporate Track for private sector supporters. We look forward to an informative and inspiring Summit this year!
