Washington, DC – In partnership with Nestlé® Pure Life® Water’s “Echale Agua a Tu Vida”, the U.S. Soccer Foundation launches its fifth annual Passback Tour, featuring a series of free soccer clinics for youth in underserved communities across the country. The 2011 Passback Tour runs from July to October, reaching nine communities: Miami, Washington, D.C., Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, Dallas, Las Vegas, Chicago, and Phoenix.
The Passback Tour works with children ages 5-12, offering soccer games and activities that emphasize healthy lifestyles. Through the partnership with Nestlé® Pure Life®, the Tour also features interactive hydration booths for families of youth participating in the soccer clinics. Special guest Cristina Saralegui, Nestlé® Pure Life’s® spokesperson and supporter of healthy habits for the Hispanic community, kicked off the Tour in Miami on Saturday, July 9th. Saralegui will also join the Tour in Los Angeles to make a Sport Court soccer surface donation on behalf of Nestlé® Pure Life®.
“Through the Passback Tour, soccer provides an opportunity for families to get together and celebrate the spirit of healthy living,” said U.S. Soccer Foundation President and CEO, Ed Foster Simeon. “We are delighted to incorporate Nestlé® Pure Life® Water’s important message of the benefits of water.”
“Staying hydrated is crucial to living a healthy lifestyle,” said Laetitia Allexant, Group Marketing Manager of Nestlé® Pure Life®. “This initiative is about inspiring families to incorporate water into their daily routines and helping them achieve a healthier lifestyle.”
The Passback Tour also connects families with local soccer programs that can help children achieve the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity each day. Through interactive games and health education, the U.S. Soccer Foundation and Nestlé® Pure Life® strive to cultivate healthy and active lifestyles in communities across the country through the game of soccer.
July 23-25, the Passback Tour joins the National Council of La Raza’s (NCLR) National Latino Family Expo. NCLR’s Annual Conference is the largest gathering of its kind in the Hispanic community, serving as the meeting ground for over 40,000 constituents. The U.S. Soccer Foundation is proud to integrate the Passback Tour into the diverse activities and opportunities offered at NCLR’s National Latino Family Expo.
