250 Girls in East LA to Join Soccer for Success
On May 20th, the U.S. Soccer Foundation joined NIKE, U.S. Soccer, and the Mia Hamm Foundation at the Weingart YMCA in Los Angeles to announce a partnership to bring our Soccer for Success youth development program to East Los Angeles. The event featured U.S. Women’s National Team players who lead a Soccer for Success session and an inspiring Q&A with local girls. Part of the #SheBelieves campaign, the event aims to inspire young girls to be active and confident, as well as celebrate USWNT players giving back to their local communities. Learn more about Soccer for Success and help us spread its nutritional, physical, and social benefits in underserved communities.
U.S. Men’s National Team Legend Cobi Jones Signs on as Foundation Ambassador
Former U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder and National Soccer Hall of Famer, Cobi Jones, has signed on as an Ambassador for the U.S. Soccer Foundation. “As the newest Ambassador to the Foundation, I could not be more proud to support the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s efforts to use soccer as a vehicle for social change,” said Jones. “Through my work with the Foundation, I hope to share my love for the game with children and their families across the country.” As an Ambassador for the U.S. Soccer Foundation, Jones advocates for using soccer as a tool to improve the lives of children in underserved communities and is committed to supporting the Foundation’s efforts to grow the game of soccer in the United States. Jones recently participated in the the 2015 Capital Soccer Classic and helped the Republican team win 8 to 4 over the Democrats in a rousing match at historic RFK Stadium.
