It’s been a looooong winter here in Washington, DC, but the snow is finally starting to melt and it’s beginning to feel a lot like spring! While our partners across the country are gearing up for another great season of Soccer for Success, our staff has been busy gearing up for an action-packed season of events.
On April 8th, we’re hosting the 2nd annual Capital Soccer Classic right here in Washington, D.C. The event features Members of Congress and some of the biggest legends in U.S. Soccer history playing together to support the use of soccer for social change. Last year’s event was a huge success, and this year’s event is going to be even bigger! Help us pack the stands at historic RFK Stadium, home to D.C. United, and join us for a night of fun and prizes as we celebrate the beautiful game. (Spoiler Alert: we’re giving away rally towels and thunder sticks!)
In May, we’re hosting the 8th annual Urban Soccer Symposium – a four-day event designed to strengthen the field of sports-based youth development. We have an awesome lineup of featured speakers this year, including Olympic Gold medalist and former member of the U.S. Women’s National Team, Michelle Akers. We’ll also be hearing from Darell Hammond, Founder and CEO of KaBoom!, and discussing topics like inclusion through sport and player retention during our various workshop sessions.
So, dust off your cleats, reclaim the fields, and help us celebrate the return of soccer season! Be sure to check out the Capital Soccer Classic and Urban Soccer Symposium pages for more details and for registration information.
