Washington, D.C., December 12, 2012 - The U.S. Soccer Foundation, the major charitable arm of soccer in the United States, today announced two additions to its Players’ Advisory Council (PAC). Kenny Cooper of the New York Red Bulls and Todd Dunivant of the L.A. Galaxy will join the PAC, which includes high profile members, such as Landon Donovan, Angela Hucles, Devon McTavish, Ben Olsen, Logan Pause and Cat Whitehill.
The PAC is comprised of current and former professional players and coaches who are dedicated to the Foundation’s mission of working in urban communities throughout the country and creating social change through the transformative power of soccer. This core group of members assists in educating the public about the value of soccer through channels such as public speaking and social media outreach.
“I am really happy and excited to be joining the Players' Advisory Council,” said Kenny Cooper, striker for the New York Red Bulls. “I look forward to supporting the many cities and thousands of children the Foundation serves.”
“I've always admired the work of the U.S. Soccer Foundation and am very excited about the opportunity to join their team,” said Todd Dunivant, defender for the L.A. Galaxy. “Soccer has given me so much and I am always anxious to give back to the community and show how soccer can be a pathway to greater things in life.”
“We are proud of all players that step forward to give back to their communities,” said Ed Foster-Simeon, president and CEO of the U.S. Soccer Foundation. “The Foundation’s mission to create social change through soccer is accomplished by working with influential leaders in the communities we serve. The positive mentoring and inspiration that professional players deliver is extremely valuable to the success of our mission and our programs. We are pleased to have Kenny and Todd as part of the PAC.”
